Student Eligibility
Students enrolled in a nursing program at the University of Phoenix, and who meet the following criteria, are invited to join through the eligibility period that begins in March of each year. The student should contact the chapter representative to determine eligibility. The representative is able to determine eligibility status and the appropriate information to submit an application if they are able to confirm eligibility. If you already have received your approval code, you may submit your interest form and code here. Once the interest form has been submitted, you should receive an invitation with a link to the application to the email that you included on your interest form. Undergraduate Students must:
- have completed half of the nursing curriculum.
- achieve academic excellence.
- rank in the top 35% of the graduating class.
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Registered Nurse Students must:
- have completed 12 credit hours at their current school.
- have completed half of the nursing curriculum.
- achieve academic excellence
- rank in the top 35% of the graduating class.
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Graduate Students (Master's and Doctorate) must*:
- have completed 1/4 of the nursing curriculum.
- achieve academic excellence.
- For universities/institutions of higher education that use a 4.0 grade point average system to measure academic achievement, graduate students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5. GPAs should be computed according to the policies of the university.
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
*Students in graduate programs who are registered nurses, legally recognized to practice in their country and have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field, shall be eligible to be considered as a Nurse Leader at any point in the program.

If you are approved as an honor society candidate, you will receive an invitation directly from Sigma Theta Tau by email with information on becoming a member and its benefits. To ensure that your invitation is delivered, please add sigma@sigmanursing.org to your address book, and check your junk folder if needed.
Once you receive your invitation, activating your membership is easy. The online form will ask you to confirm your contact information and will collect a $119 induction/membership fee. (Please pay special attention to the name field, as this is exactly how your membership certificate will be printed.) See below for more information on accepting membership based on induction attendance.
Nursing Professional Eligibility
Nursing professionals not previously inducted as nursing students and not currently enrolled in a nursing program can also join as a Nurse Professional using the criteria listed below. If you feel you meet these criteria and would like to be considered for membership, fill out the interest form through the link below. In the section where it asks for an invitation code, please write Nurse Leader and we will follow up with you to obtain the necessary documentation.
