I am a Nurse; I will hold your hand

ENGAGE..... EDUCATE ..... EXPERIENCE

Omicron Delta is honored to announce its first Awareness Focus dedicated to our nurses.
All of our leaders and committees are coming together to help and heal in this time of crisis.

We are all in this together.  So whether you are on the front lines of this epidemic, serving in nursing education, a new nurse, or retired I know you are living LOVE, COURAGE, and HONOR daily from your heart because you are a NURSE.
We care and we are here for you!  Throughout this time, we will be hosting Zoom chats, sharing free Continuing Education through Sigma's COVID-19 survival resources, and hosting a virtual mask-making service project. Our leaders are here for discussions and mentoring.  Each Wednesday at 5pm Pacific time, you are welcome to get together with us to virtually connect, share, and support each other.
Every single person in this country is being impacted by changes at work, home, and schools.  Please share your experiences in our Discussion Section on the chapter homepage.  We want to hear from you! We hope you are all staying safe, taking care of yourselves and your families.  With deep gratitude for all you are and all you do...
"Your mask, your shield"
Knowing we can protect ourselves makes us feel safe. Improving that sensation of safety for nurses at the bedside has a profound impact—on patient care, on nurses’ health, and even on the nursing profession.
Sometimes wearing your mask is the best way to show our true selves. -Lisa Mangum

"Professional Development through Member Interaction"
For the first time ever, the focus of our meeting will be to showcase our members. We seek to feature what our members are doing in terms of clinical practice or evidence-based projects, research, and student work such as practicum projects or dissertations. Our goals are not only to feature our members but also to share best practices and spark collaboration among members across the United States and in other countries.

"Building Bridges of Hope over Roaring Waters"
Recently, nursing education has made immediate, unprecedented shifts to online and remote instruction, leaving many educators feeling burdened, overwhelmed, and even guilty. Many have voiced sentiments of role strain related to balancing multiple “at home” challenges such as working while parenting, homeschooling, providing elder care, being pulled to the frontlines.

"From the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic"
We could not keep up with the large influx of initial patients. Every day we were seeing a new influx of patients in our emergency room. These patients are the sickest of the sick, and the care is extremely challenging and stressful. The support and teamwork we give each other is the only way to get through the shift. If there is any time for team nursing, it is now!

"Staying Positive When Surrounded by Negativity"
As nurses, we often hear and see the worst. This has been intensified in the time of COVID-19. How do you keep positive when your colleagues are negative saying "I can't take it anymore," or "I'm so tired of this place," or even worse, "I'm quitting.”? This panel will discuss ways to remain positive and even thrive among the bad or negative attitudes of others.         Click below to link to course video                    Obtaining CE instructional video

"Politicians and PPE...should that even be"
We're going to get our minds and hearts together to collectively write an article!  Those on the frontlines and those who have lived the life of a healthcare worker should be making important decisions regarding safety and PPE.  Yet it is not experts such as Dr. Fauci making those decisions.  The politicians are.  This affects nurses and their family's well-being, safety, and health.  We want to give them a voice!
