Service Opportunities

The Omicron Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International is committed to helping others through service activities.  In the past, the chapter has worked with several agencies that benefit local service organizations such as:  Canine Companions for Independence (Denver), Wright to Read (Alexandria) , Rainbow Days (Dallas), and many others.  Through our chapter strategic plan, we have categorized our service efforts to address different populations.

Local (Community)

Through member outreach, Omicron Delta continues to support activities that benefit Project Linus.  Project Linus is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need.  This service activity allows chapter members all over the country to participate and contribute locally in their own community.
The chapter's relationship with Project Linus began in 2013 and to date, Omicron Delta has made over 274 Project Linus blankets.

If a member would like to host a Project Linus event in their community - such as with a scout troop or church group - they may contact the chapter to discuss how the chapter can help you find donation sites and tips for making this an effective event that supports Project Linus.

Get involved!  The chapter encourages Omicron Delta members to host service activities in their communities.  Please review the Service Interest Form   If you are interested, please e-mail our chapter at: chapter@omicrondelta.net and more information can be sent to you regarding your specific interest.

Be recognized!  The chapter recognizes our member volunteer efforts in support of these service organizations. If you host an event, don't forget to fill out a Service Recognition form so we can promote your efforts!

     Omicron Delta Campaign - water.org

The power of water ..... Water connects every aspect of life. Access to safe water and sanitation can quickly turn problems into potential – empowering people with time for school and work, and contributing to improved health for women, children, and families around the world.
Globally, Omicron Delta will participate in activities at our education conferences that benefit H2Omicron Delta and water.org.  In conjunction with each education conference, we will host a service activity such as a walk that members and participants may participate in.  In addition to collecting donations for our water.org annual campaign, we hope to bring attention to need for clean water for all.

Medicine Bottle Project

To continue efforts that began with the Malawi Medicine Bottle Project, Omicron Delta will host events that benefit the M25M efforts. Twice a year, the chapter will promote a campaign on the Circle.  During that time, all members who would like to participate will be encouraged to collect, prepare and mail their donation to M25M.  We will have members share their experience on the Circle so that everyone can be a part of the campaign "virtually".  Additionally, members can complete their own campaign any time during the year.  If you host your own event and would like to mail the collected bottles, please use the address below and send our chapter an email so we can hear all about your event and share it with our members on The Circle!  Medicine Bottle preparation and additional instructions: Medicine Bottle Project Instructions
